Job Summary:
We are seeking a contract geoscientist/data analyst to support the development and delivery of a new subsurface data product. This role will focus on generating, testing, and delivering derived datasets from well-log data while ensuring outputs are geologically sound and meet internal quality standards.
The ideal candidate combines geoscience interpretation skills with data handling and analytical capabilities and is comfortable working with well log data and subsurface datasets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generate derived datasets and attributes from well log data using internal workflows and tools
- Perform quality control and testing to ensure outputs are geologically reasonable and technically sound
- Assist with log cleanup and preprocessing to prepare datasets for analysis
- Validate outputs using geologic interpretation and petrophysical principles
- Support data delivery to internal teams and stakeholders
- Document workflows, assumptions, and results to ensure reproducibility
- Provide feedback to improve internal workflows and data quality
Job Requirements:
- Proven ability to work effectively in teams in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
- Experience with exploration & development geoscience workflows (regional and local scale mapping, basic unconventional field planning, and familiar well operations reservoir characterization,)
- Experience with at least one subsurface interpretation software package (Kingdom preferred)
- Familiar with GIS concepts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, or a related geoscience field
- Experience with well log analysis and interpretation
- Understanding of basic petrophysical concepts (lithology, porosity, saturation indicators, etc.)
- Familiarity with geologic interpretation workflows using seismic and/or well data
- Experience handling subsurface datasets and performing basic data analysis
- Experience with log preprocessing or log cleanup
- Familiarity with Python, R, or other data science tools
- Experience working with large well log datasets
- Exposure to machine learning or statistical analysis
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform data quality control
