As a Data Management & Analytics Intern, you will support the organization, analysis, and operational management of TGS’ large-scale geophysical data assets. The role focuses on improving data accessibility, supporting operational analytics, and helping streamline workflows that enable data to be efficiently used across TGS products and platforms.
You will work with teams across Data Management, Digital Data Innovation, and Product Development to help strengthen the data foundation that supports emerging technologies such as AI-driven subsurface interpretation and digital data platforms like DataVerse.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Organization & Management
- Assist in organizing and maintaining geophysical datasets across internal data platforms.
- Support dataset cataloging, metadata validation, and data quality verification.
- Help improve dataset documentation and data discoverability.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Analyze internal operational and business datasets to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development of reports and dashboards that track data usage, delivery metrics, and operational performance.
- Assist in identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data workflows and data products.
Data Platform Support
- Support initiatives related to DataVerse and internal data platforms.
- Assist in preparing datasets that can support analytics and AI applications.
- Help document workflows related to dataset ingestion, processing, and delivery.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline data management workflows.
- Support automation or process improvements that improve data accessibility and efficiency.
- Assist teams in documenting best practices for data management.
Collaboration
- Work with geoscience, data management, and digital innovation teams on cross-functional data initiatives.
- Support internal presentations and documentation related to data projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Geoscience, or related field.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python, SQL, or Excel.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with structured datasets and perform basic reporting and analysis.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Exposure to cloud-based data environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with data cataloging or metadata management concepts.
- Interest in large-scale scientific or geoscience datasets.
