Manager, Product & Commercial Marketing – Marine Data Acquisition (MDA)

Overview

The Manager, Product & Commercial Marketing is responsible for shaping and executing targeted marketing strategies, strengthening product positioning, and developing compelling technical content to support the Marine Data Acquisition (MDA) business unit. This role blends deep product marketing ownership with a strong commercial acumen, ensuring MDA capabilities are articulated through clear, compelling narratives that support sales engagement, tenders, and contract-driven growth.

Working closely with technical subject matter experts, sales teams, and broader product marketing partners, the role

transforms complex technical concepts into concise, value‑driven messaging for both technical and commercial audiences to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Product Marketing – MDA

  • Own and evolve the product marketing strategy for the MDA business unit, ensuring clear, consistent positioning across offerings
  • Oversee the overarching MDA product narrative, ensuring it serves customers at varying technical and commercial levels
  • Define value propositions, differentiation, and positioning for MDA capabilities in alignment with business priorities
  • Support go-to-market planning for new capabilities, technologies, and service offerings within MDA
  • Where required, conduct competitive research, market analysis, and insights gathering to inform product positioning and identify growth opportunities

Commercial Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies aligned with sales priorities, active opportunities, and commercial objectives for the MDA business unit
  • Shape customer-centric value narratives that emphasize business impact, outcomes, and differentiation over technical features alone
  • Support go-to-market efforts tied to bids, tenders, contracts, and strategic commercial initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders to strengthen commercial visibility and identify promotional opportunities

Sales Enablement

  • Partner with sales teams to develop messaging, positioning, and tools that support opportunity progression and deal execution
  • Create, enhance, and maintain commercial-facing assets such as value propositions, pitch materials, and tender support content
  • Ensure marketing efforts directly enable sales conversations, tender success, and contract outcomes

Technical & Business Unit Alignment

  • Serve as the primary marketing point of contact for the MDA business unit
  • Work closely with the Technical Marketing Manager to ensure technical accuracy, credibility, and alignment
  • Help prioritize marketing support based on commercial relevance, opportunity impact, and business value
  • Represent marketing in recurring BU touchpoints to ensure operational alignment and continuous information flow

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Sales, Product Marketing, and Technical teams to align priorities, messaging, and execution
  • Bring structure and clarity to marketing requests tied to commercial and product needs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of product and commercial marketing processes
  • Support cross-functional planning for conference participation, sponsorships, and regional marketing presence at industry events

Measurement & Impact

  • Define and track success measures tied to commercial and product outcomes, including sales feedback and opportunity support
  • Use insights to refine messaging, positioning, and go-to-market approaches over time
  • Work with Sales teams and the Marketing CRM team to ensure relevant commercial metrics are captured and acted upon
  • Leverage research, data analysis, and customer segmentation to evaluate marketing performance and optimise strategies

Experience & Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in B2B marketing, with a mix of product marketing and commercial enablement experience
  • Proven ability to develop and execute marketing strategies that support sales, tenders, and revenue outcomes
  • Experience working in technically complex industries (energy, engineering, geoscience, industrial, or similar)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering closely with sales and technical teams
  • Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Experience supporting execution of multi‑channel marketing activities, including campaigns, digital content, and media coordination

Skills & Attributes

  • Commercially minded and outcome-oriented
  • Able to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling value narratives
  • Confident working with technical experts without being the technical authority
  • Structured, pragmatic, and collaborative
  • Open-minded, innovative thinker
  • Proficient with marketing technologies and content tools (e.g., CRM systems, digital platforms, creative software)
  • Able to support event and conference engagement, including occasional travel when required
  • Strong understanding of brand standards and ability to ensure consistency in all content and collateral
