TGS provides scientific data and intelligence to the global energy sector, enabling energy for all by unlocking vital, data‑driven solutions and knowledge. Through an extensive and diverse energy data library, advanced analytics, cloud‑based applications, and specialized services, we work in a way that is Passionate, Results‑Driven, Collaborative, and Responsible.
This role combines managerial leadership with deep technical knowledge across TGS’s seismic imaging compute environments. The role oversees workflow optimization, compute utilization analytics, forecasting, and operational efficiency, while also building and maintaining the data, tooling, ETL pipelines, and automation that underpin performance insight and cost-aware decision making across on-prem and cloud. The role collaborates closely with Imaging, R&T, and EIT to identify bottlenecks, accelerate turnaround time (TAT), guide cloud transition, and deliver machine-learning-based cost models and project forecasting support.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize computationally intensive workflows to improve efficiency, hardware utilization, and cost versus performance outcomes, with a focus on reducing computational TAT.
- Maintain and expand EiE tools used for resource and workflow monitoring.
- Design, build, and operate ETL pipelines for software performance analytics (including CPU/GPU usage) and automated data ingestion.
- Create and maintain monitoring scripts and dashboards to provide transparent system health and workflow behavior.
- Own project utilization metrics and reporting for compute and storage across on-prem and cloud.
- Develop and maintain visualization tools that support resource planning, forecasting, and workflow transparency.
- Coordinate and execute workload transitions from on-prem to cloud, ensuring data integrity and performance continuity.
- Analyze compute and storage usage patterns; identify and implement optimization opportunities.
- Build forecasting models and provide estimates for new projects, covering cost, performance, and resource needs.
- Interface with key stakeholders (R&T, EIT, Imaging) to surface opportunities and help steer those into useful applications.
- Develop ML solutions for cost calculations and cost-driver extraction; ensure model quality (e.g., robust handling of anomalous values).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Geophysics, Mathematics, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in seismic imaging production or seismic-imaging-related application development, including managerial experience.
- Strong understanding of seismic imaging project life cycles, workflows, and QC practices.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement across technical domains.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
- Proven project management capabilities with strong organization and planning.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with demonstrated team support and development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
- General understanding in Python for processing, automation, and analytics.
- General understanding of ETL principles and pipeline design.
- Cloud platform experience (GCP and AWS preferred).
- Experience with IA, Rackmon, and Eos seismic imaging software platforms (preferred).
Competencies
- - Leadership in technical project management and workflow optimization.
- - Analytical and data-driven decision-making.
- - Clear cross-functional communication and influence.
- - Ability to balance short-term operational delivery with long-term strategic vision.
- - Fluency in interpreting compute usage data; identification of targeted performance improvements.
- - Innovation mindset with emphasis on automation, modeling, and continuous improvement
If you meet the qualifications and are passionate contributing to our team, we encourage you to submit your application by 04/30/2026.
