Purpose & Scope: 

The Senior Network Security Engineer will design, build, optimize, and maintain secure network environments across TGS’s global footprint and be responsible for protecting onshore data centers, cloud environments, and maritime operations by implementing and managing advanced security controls - particularly those within Palo Alto Networks technologies.

This is a senior technical role that will hold significant influence on TGS’s global security posture and provide opportunities to work with modern security technologies across hybrid environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures globally, with a focus on Palo Alto NGFW, Panorama, and security services.
  • Lead network security initiatives, including segmentation, Zero Trust design, and secure connectivity across offices, cloud environments, and the marine acquisition fleet.
  • Monitor and tune network security infrastructure for performance, resilience, and threat mitigation.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and security issues across hybrid environments.
  • Conduct security assessments, rulebase reviews, and vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain policies, standards, diagrams, operational guides, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Cloud, SOC, Support, Network, and Infrastructure teams to ensure end-to-end security.
  • Support incident response processes by providing network security expertise.
  • Contribute to cross‑team knowledge sharing.

 

Key Competencies

 

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in network security engineering.
  • Expert-level experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, SSL/IPSec).
  • Proficient in core WAN/LAN networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, subnetting, and VLANs.
  • Proven experience designing secure networks and security controls.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex environments.
  • Good understanding of modern cybersecurity practices and threat landscapes.
  • Ability to obtain national security clearance in a NATO country

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in network security or similar field
  • Palo Alto certifications (PCNSE strongly preferred).
  • Experience securing cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Automation or scripting skills (Python, Ansible, APIs).
  • Experience in maritime, OT, or globally distributed networks.
  • Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms and threat monitoring workflows.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communicator who can collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and the ability to work independently.
  • Structured, methodical, and detail-oriented approach to security operations.
  • Comfortable operating in a global enterprise supporting mission critical systems.
  • Flexibility to work early hours for global alignment efforts, in particular EU.
