Purpose & Scope

This role is responsible for ensuring the technical readiness of TGS systems and equipment through effective oversight of documentation, development activities, and quality control processes. It provides governance and coordination with contractors to support audits, procedural updates, and mobilization activities, while maintaining alignment with established standards. The role also delivers direct support to operational teams, including vessel crews and navigation operations, to ensure reliable execution and continuity of field and project activities.

 

Key Competencies

  • Education: Degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, Ocean/Marine Engineering, or related field.  Or at least 7 years of offshore and with USBL and INS (Inertial Navigation System) ROV positioning for Geophysical Survey, Hydrographic survey or construction support.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of offshore and with USBL and INS (Inertial Navigation System) ROV positioning for Geophysical Survey, Hydrographic survey or construction support. Familiarity with multibeam systems, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profilers, AUVs. Proficient with subsea positioning systems: Kongsberg HiPAP, Exail INS systems, GNSS, AHRS, 4DNAV, Navipac, QINSy.
  • Soft skills: Self‑driven and highly motivated professional with strong critical‑thinking skills, a process‑oriented mindset, and a proven ability to work efficiently and remain well organized.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of TGS technical systems through standardized documentation, research and development initiatives, and software testing, in coordination with contractors.
  • Ensure the readiness and reliability of TGS equipment by managing inventory, maintenance activities, software updates, mobilization efforts, and quality control of associated documentation.
  • Support project execution by interfacing with contractors on audits, reviews, and updates of standard operating procedures, as well as contributing to project‑specific procedural documentation.
  • Provide operational support to field activities, including equipment mobilization, verification of mobilization reports, and technical support and training for vessel crews.
  • Support navigation operations by assisting ROC and offshore Navigation functions and ensuring alignment with established technical, procedural, and quality standards.
  • May temporarily backfill Navigation roles in emergency cases.
