Through platforms such as DataVerse, TGS is modernizing how subsurface data is managed, accessed, and analyzed—enabling scalable analytics, AI applications, and data-driven decision making across the energy ecosystem.
As a Data Governance & Data Platform Intern, you will support the management, organization, and governance of TGS’ geophysical data assets. The role focuses on improving metadata quality, dataset organization, and data lifecycle management across enterprise systems.
You will work closely with the Data Management and Digital teams to help strengthen the data foundation that enables scalable analytics, digital products, and AI applications across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Governance & Metadata
- Assist in maintaining metadata standards and improving dataset documentation.
- Support data governance initiatives focused on consistency, quality, and accessibility of datasets.
- Help track data lineage and maintain data inventories across systems.
Data Cataloging & Data Platform Support
- Support dataset cataloging and classification across internal data platforms.
- Assist in improving data discoverability and accessibility for internal teams.
- Work with teams to prepare datasets for integration into modern data platforms such as DataVerse.
Data Lifecycle Management
- Support workflows related to data ingestion, storage, and lifecycle management.
- Assist in documenting data pipelines and operational processes.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Support development of internal analytics that track dataset usage and operational metrics.
- Assist in preparing dashboards or reports for data management teams.
Collaboration
- Work with geoscientists, data engineers, and data managers to improve data accessibility and usability.
- Support internal documentation and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a degree program in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Geoscience, or related field.
- Basic proficiency with Excel, SQL, or Python.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Interest in data management, data governance, or enterprise data platforms.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with data cataloging or metadata management concepts.
- Exposure to cloud data environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Interest in geoscience or scientific datasets.
