TGS provides scientific data and intelligence to the global energy sector, enabling energy for all by unlocking vital, data‑driven solutions and knowledge. Through an extensive and diverse energy data library, advanced analytics, cloud‑based applications, and specialized services, we work in a way that is Passionate, Results‑Driven, Collaborative, and Responsible.
Lead Gulf of America (GoA) complex imaging and FWI-driven earth model building across OBN (sparse/dense) and streamer projects. Provide technical leadership to imaging teams, drive workflow excellence and QC rigor, partner with R&T to transition new methods into production and serve as a senior client-facing authority for project strategy, reviews, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own technical strategy and execution for complex imaging and earth model building (FWI/EFWI + tomography integration where applicable).
- Design and deploy workflows on sparse and dense OBN and streamer data; optimize for subsalt illumination challenges.
- Lead model building decisions: parameterization, multi-scale design, anisotropy strategy, convergence criteria, and uncertainty framing.
- Establish and enforce QC gates and technical standards to ensure repeatable, defensible deliverables.
- Troubleshoot imaging/model failure modes (cycle skipping, salt boundary ambiguity, acquisition limitations) and implement corrective actions.
- Interface directly with clients: kickoff alignment, technical reviews, risk/tradeoff communication, and be the client trusted advisor.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously; ensure quality, schedule adherence, and scope control.
- Mentor and train staff; elevate team capability in FWI/EFWI, OBN workflows, and subsalt success criteria.
- Collaborate with R&T to mature new techniques and integrate them into production.
- Support commercial efforts: proposals, capability pitches, client workshops, and technical marketing.
Required Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Geology or Physics.
- 15+ years in seismic processing/imaging with deep focus on earth model building in complex geology.
- Proven delivery of FWI/EFWI-based model building and imaging on GoM or comparable salt basins.
- Strong experience with OBN processing/imaging (sparse and dense) and streamer imaging.
- Clear understanding of subsalt imaging success criteria and common failure modes.
- Track record of standardizing workflows, building training programs, or leading technical governance.
- Publications, patents, or recognized internal technology leadership.
- Strong proposal and client workshop experience.
- Proficiency working in Linux/UNIX environments and HPC workflows; comfort with scripting/automation mindset.
If you meet the qualifications and are passionate contributing to our team, we encourage you to submit your application by 03/05/2026.
