Purpose and Scope

TGS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Seismic Acquisition Technology team. This is a hands-on engineering role embedded in an operationally demanding environment — you'll be building and maintaining mission-critical software systems that support live marine seismic acquisition campaigns, vessel operations, and data delivery workflows. You'll work alongside domain specialists, geophysicists, and field engineers to design solutions where reliability, performance, and correctness genuinely matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software systems supporting seismic data acquisition, QC pipelines, and data delivery workflows
• Assist with the development of strategic plans and technical roadmaps
• Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to understand and translate project requirements into robust software solutions
• Review and debug code; perform validation and verification testing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geophysicists, field engineers, and infrastructure specialists
• Contribute to infrastructure decisions including server, networking, and embedded/real-time system integrations
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards and best practices
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards

Required Qualifications

• Education: B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related science/engineering discipline
• Experience: 10–15 years of professional software engineering experience
• Languages: Extensive experience in C/C++ and object-oriented design methods
• Proficiency in Python and Linux systems
• Databases: In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL and other relational databases
• Systems: Experience with networked and distributed systems, including real-time or near-real-time data pipelines
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Marine seismic acquisition experience — direct familiarity with streamer or OBN systems is a significant advantage
• Offshore field experience aboard seismic vessels or equivalent industrial/remote operational environments
• Familiarity with time-series data, QC workflows, or geophysical data formats (SEG-Y, etc.)
• Experience with Linux server administration and containerization (Docker, VM platforms)
• Exposure to industrial protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, or similar)
